Heavenly Cigars at the Heavenly Pavilion

Situated inside the tranquil Sugar Hut Resort sits a magical hideaway for Cigar Lovers, created by Dr Sunya in 2021. He named it the Heavenly Pavilion and designed three levels for smokers to gather and enjoy some first-rate cigars and fine spirits in privacy and comfort.

On the ground floor you will find pictures of famous historical aficionados of the cigar namely Winston Churchill who reportedly smoked a staggering amount, between 8 to 10 a day. His favourite brands were Cuban brands like Romeo y Julieta and La Aroma de Cuba. Interestingly, he wasn’t just puffing constantly. He often let them burn out and chewed on them instead, which resulted in rather mangled cigars. To keep his chewed cigars from getting soggy and falling apart, Churchill himself invented a practical solution – the “bellyband.” This was a simple strip of paper wrapped around the end to keep it dry and together

Alongside Winston another cigar devotee: Fidel Castro photographed with a charming Thai lady we affectionately call Dr Grace.as well as being the sister to Aspasra Hongsakula who in 1965 whilst holder of the Miss Thailand title was crowned Miss Universe, Dr Grace has herself earned a place in the history books by being the first Thai lady to visit Cuba meeting with the enigmatic Castro whom she went on to negotiate the importation of Cuban cigars into Thailand.

It used to be that you had to go to the Sheraton in Bangkok to find these cigars but now you don’t have to travel to the capital. Along with a range from many countries, Cuban cigars can now be found right here in Pattaya at The Heavenly Pavilion with accompanying spirits of the same fine quality.

More modern enthusiasts are Arnold Schwarzenegger, Sylvester Stallone, Samuel L.Jackson, Dwayne Johnson and Tom Cruise. Maybe it’s the short term boost to their testosterone, the status effect or just the flavour and experience of smoking a fine cigar but whatever the reason their popularity still endures.

The second floor is like a old fashioned study and has some Jazz Music especially selected by Thomas Reimer the resident guitarist from the Jazz Pit. The top level gives you wonderful views over the Sugar Hut Resort.

Lastly the third level gives you a great panoramic view of the Sugar Hut Resort and Sun Sabella Restaurant.

There are a wide selections of Cigars from South America for you to try; from Cuba there are Cohiba Siglos, Romeo Tubos and the Partagas Deluxe. The selection from Mexico has Te-Amo Corona Nicaragua, Te-Amo Robusto Cuba, Casa Turrent Nicaragua and Casa Turrent Cuba. And from Nicagagua we have Oliva Serie G Maduro Belicoso, Oliva Serie V Double Robusto Tubos, Oliva Serie V Melanino Figurado, Oliva Serie O Robisto Tubos and the Nub Cameroon.
