10 USES FOR WHITE VINEGAR AROUND THE HOME

  1. To clean chrome and stainless steel fixtures around your home, apply a light misting of undiluted white vinegar from a recycled spray bottle. Then buff with a soft cloth.

  2. Rub light carpet stains with a mixture of 2 tablespoons salt dissolved in 1/2 cup white vinegar. Let the solution dry, then vacuum.

  3. An effective way to unclog and deodorize drains is with a combination of vinegar and baking soda. It is also far gentler on your pipes than commercial drain cleaners.Use a funnel to pour 1/2 cup baking soda followed by 1 cup vinegar into the drain. When the foaming subsides, flush with hot tap water. Wait five minutes, and then flush again with cold water.

  4. Eliminate grease stains from your stove,kitchen table, or counter by wiping them down with a cloth dampened in a solution of equal parts white vinegar and water.

  5. To clean your microwave, place a glass bowl filled with a solution of 1/4 cup vinegar in 1 cup water inside, and zap the mixture for five minutes on the highest setting. Once the bowl cools, dip a cloth or sponge into the liquid and use it to wipe away stains.

  8. Kill grass without the use of weed killer just by pouring full-strength white distilled vinegar on unwanted grass or vegetation. Also keep cut flowers fresh for longer by adding 2 tablespoons of white vinegar and 2 tablespoons of sugar to the water in your vase.

  9. To remove wine stains from cotton and cotton/polyester fabrics, treat the stain (within 24 hours) by sponging white vinegar directly onto the area until the stain disappears. Then launder according to directions on the care label.

  10. If your pet isn’t yet house trained, spraying white vinegar on the area of an ‘accident’ will clean and deodorise it. Also the masking smell of the vinegar will deter your pet from re-offending in the same place.
